Cake

Cake cake cake! There are so many choices when it comes to cake. Flavor, size, decoration…where do you start!?!?! Well let’s start with the shape. Do you want squzre or round? Here are some ideas for you. image

Heart.

Now that you have chosen your shape, you need some ideas for the design. So I will post 3 options for each shape. These pictures are something that have caught.my.eye. none of the pictures are mine. They all came from Google images.

Heart:

You can always go with something classic and add something from your theme onto the cake. I like these simple cakes that have the butterflies on them. Very sweet for a spring wedding.

You can go for a two toned effect to represent the bride and groom. It looks like this Baker has used modeling.g chocolate or fondant and had chocolate and white chocolate complimenting each other with roses to add a feminine touch.

And this one is my favorite so far. This cake was covered with buttercream then wrapped in a piece of white modeling chocolate rolled thin. It is a bit taller than the cake itself that way they could slip roses in betweeen each tier. The roses can be real or made of fondant or gumpaste.

This one really caught my eye. The black and white is very elegant and playful and the black shows off the shape of the cake nicely.

This cake is one color but very well put together with demensions. Royal icing piping is used go give this cake a great elegant look.

And this last one is very playful and pretty. I would do this for a summer or fall wedding. And the different detail on each tier gives the eye more to look ay and appear attractive.

This cake has been beautifully and perfectly iced and adorned with ribbons. Snowflakes set off the theme.

This lovely all gold cake is given texture on each panel. A different design on each tier.

And basket weave is a nice way to also give texture on a cake like this. Just add some of your wedding flowers… and Viola!

Column cakes or tall cakes are a fresh new way to have cakes. This cake is roughly frosted to make it look rustic and red roses gives it color.

This texture on this cake is from a cake comb. Just lightly press it against the cake after icing and spin. There are also fed roses on this cake and edible diamonds give it some glitz and sparkle.

For this last column cake, there is a shorter tier with the taller tier on top. Add some black vibe piping and you have a very cute cake!

These tiers of this square cake are off centered and gives a more dramatic and playful look. Just add some coordinating ribbon and flowers and your cake is complete.

This square cake not only has bigger tier’s, but smaller tiers to give a separated look. The two classic colors give it a straight look and the flowers give it a feminine touch.

I love this cake. If I were going to have a winter wedding, I would get this cake. The tiers are wrapped in light pastel blues pinks and purples and snowflakes are added for a.wintertime touch.

This cake has lots of different textures and the white on white effect is very elegant.

This round tier cake is beautiful! I love the lace accents and the bright colored really roses. Very delicate.

Another option is to cover a traditional round cake with branches and blossoms. It gives a whimsical feel to the plain traditional cake and helps to tie in your theme.

Now, I’m a bit opposed to a topsy turbulent wedding cake. They aren’t my favorite and I think they look more like for a birthday party than a celebration of love. But I have found a few that could give you some ideas.

This topsy turbulent cake is separated by boards and there are colored geletain bubbles on it. I love the bubbles. Gives a pretty feel to the cake.

This cake has clean lines and the tiers have a black royal icing stenciling with green fondant ribbons.

This black and white cake has different fondant patterns on each tier and Lillie’s adorn each tier.

Mini cakes are a way to serve your guests. They are sometimes simple like this one with a simple ribbon and rose. Or they can be.more decorated.

These mini cakes are frosted then different chocolate shavings are placed on the sides. Very cute conception and great for the chocoholics out there. 😉

You can also have two tiered mini wedding cakes. Just add some piping and some flowers and there you go!

Cake pops can be used in any color that coordinates with your wedding. They are single serve and easy to clean up.

Just use white cake pops with coordinating ribbons!

Cupcakes can also be used for your cake. These have black wrappers and black decoration all with white frosting. You can do the same for yours with any color you like.

You can also use the same color wrappers and different variations of your colors. This one has different shades of purple.

These cupcakes all have white liners and different colored frostings. Add flowers to the tops and perfect!
